Mr Preben Tolstrup, 42, has been appointed new President and CEO of FLS miljø a/s. The appointment is expected to take effect in early February.
Preben Tolstrup, a mechanical engineer, has been with the ABB Group since 1988 and was most recently Managing Director of ABB Alstom Power with overall responsibility for Global Environmental activities (power plants) with some 1000 employees and a turnover close to 3.1bn DKK (400m USD).
Having served in the ABB Group and, before that, in the Shell Group, Preben Tolstrup brings with him broad international managerial experience and extensive knowledge of the environmental products market. In 1988, Preben Tolstrup joined ABB I.C.Møller as Business Development Manager and from 1991 to 1994 he served as Business Area Controller for ABB's global environmental activities based in the USA. From 1994 to 1999 he was Head of ABB's global Ash Handling and Service activities and in 1999 he became Managing Director of ABB Alstom Power/Environment based in Bruxelles.
Preben Tolstrup succeeds Mr Jens Stephensen, who has wished to retire, having since mid 2000 held overall responsibility for the implementation of a new corporate strategy for FLS miljø which entailed a major rationalisation and restructuring programme necessitated by several years of unsatisfactory earnings.
