MasterCard(R) Selects PCI-GENERAL(TM) as Platform of Choice, to Secure Their Data

Packet General Networks Launches Data Security and PCI Compliance (PCI-DSS) Solutions for MySQL(R)

BALDWIN, NY--(Marketwire - September 23, 2008) - Packet General Networks, provider of innovative data security solutions, announced that MasterCard® has selected Packet General's solution to build a PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure facing the Internet. Packet General is also announcing general availability of its soft Secure Server Appliance™ (SSA™) line -- PCI-GENERAL™, Encryption-GENERAL™ and File-GENERAL™ for MySQL® users, who are looking to comply with PCI-DSS.

Organizations struggle to achieve data security. Neither the operating system vendor, nor the application vendor takes on the responsibility of securing the data that they help generate and house. The onus of data security and regulatory compliance falls squarely on the shoulders of the customer. With this in mind, Packet General has created a family of secure server appliances that protect application data and enable customers to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

As of June 30, 2008, organizations are required to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). An easy to deploy and transparent compliance solution is needed.

MasterCard®, the market leader in electronic transactions with operations in 210 countries and the driving force behind Payment Card Industry (PCI) mandates, has deployed "PCI-GENERAL™ for MySQL" to secure their own data, validating the Secure Server Appliance™ (SSA™) concept.

"As one of the creators of the PCI standard, MasterCard® places a premium on data security," said Didier Godart, Product Leader PSI group of MasterCard. "We selected PCI-GENERAL™ because it met our stringent data security requirements, enabled us to become operational within a short amount of time and best of all we didn't have to change a single line of code."

"Customers should never be faced with making a choice between keeping their mission-critical application server up or plugging the latest security hole," said Raj Sharma, CEO of Packet General. "We are focused on changing the application data security paradigm through the introduction of a new type of a secure server appliance that is secure by design. MasterCard's adoption of PCI-GENERAL™ validates our new approach to application data security."

Packet General data security features that enable PCI compliance:

  Protection against "Privileged User"
Transparent commercial-grade application data encryption (AES-256)
  FIPS-140 compliant Key Management
  Cryptographically signed logs
  Encrypted backups
  Non-stop security update service
