ZMDI Uses Methodics SoC Design Data Management Platform(TM) to Manage Complexity and IP Integration for Advanced Power Management SoCs

BuildIC SoC Integration Engine Facilitates Efficient Mixed-Signal IP Use and Design Data Management

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 6, 2011) - At the Design Automation Conference (DAC) here today, Methodics LLC, a leading developer of design data management tools for integrated circuit (ICs), announced that leading semiconductor manufacturer ZMDI (Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden AG) has used its data management technology to integrate more than fifty mixed-signal IP blocks in its next generation power management SoCs. Using Methodics' BuildIC™ SoC Integration Engine, ZMDI was able to compile, organize and integrate information contained in each of its individual designers' workspaces in minutes, facilitating the development of innovative energy efficient analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for the automotive, mobile medical, industrial automation, and consumer markets. The result is a significant reduction in overall development time, and a higher quality SoC design.

As part of the ProjectIC™ SoC Management Platform BuildIC uses a project bill of materials, or SoC manifest, to simplify multi-site data management, expedite the delivery of IP to user workspaces and to track IP usage as part of the SoC integration process.

"By using an advanced design data management system, ZMDI is able to accelerate the development of the industry's most modern mixed-signal systems-on-chips. To maintain a leading position the management of internal and external IP and its associated meta data has become critical to performance, accuracy and speed of an IC itself, as well as meeting demanding development schedules," said Achim Graupner, manager of Methodology and Design Automation at ZMDI. "Methodics was able to enhance the performance and efficiency of our design data management tasks by orders of magnitudes over the solution we had been using, delivering the IP in a fully functional and ready to use environment."
