Halogen TV Announces Three Original Primetime Series Premiering This Fall

LOS ANGELES, July 12, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Halogen TV, the reality-based cable network focused on socially-conscious entertainment, will premiere three original primetime series this Fall, coinciding with the network's two-year anniversary. The announcement was made today by Becky Henderson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Halogen TV.

Leading the slate is the 10-part series, JUMP SHIPP, featuring motivational speaker and advice guru Josh Shipp. In each episode, Josh intervenes in the lives of talented young adults who want to transition into a dream job. The challenge is that they don't know where to begin. Josh steps in by hijacking a potential "jumper" and dropping them into a series of job-training challenges to prepare them for what could lie ahead. He then presents them with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make the leap and follow their aspirations. Produced by Dot & Cross, JUMP SHIPP premieres on October 21st at 9:00pm ET.

ROADWORTHY: THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN TOUR is the emotional 10-part docu-reality series that follows a group of young adults who postpone their lives to volunteer with the Invisible Children charity. Founded in 2003 by three young filmmakers who were deeply affected by what they saw in Uganda, Invisible Children focuses on the plight of impoverished children. Wracked by continual poverty, HIV, and other dire conditions, Ugandan communities have watched helplessly as thousands of children have been abducted from their homes, driven into slavery and forced to join combat units in their nation's civil conflict. Long-known for its high number of orphaned children, Uganda is now recovering in part due to the tireless efforts of Invisible Children's all-volunteer teams.

Invisible Children's first foray into television will follow the "New England Roadies" — four Americans and two Ugandans — as they meet for the first time and trek across the U.S. together. Traveling by van with little money, strange accommodations and long hours, this motley crew toils six days a week for the one thing that drives them — raising awareness and support to help end the longest-running war in Africa.

ROADWORTHY: THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN TOUR is produced by Tyler Garnett and will premiere on September 26th at 9:00pm ET.

Returning for a second season is the Halogen TV original, NOBLE EXCHANGE. This 7-part series follows a group of emerging celebrities as they travel abroad to explore what they can learn from other cultures. Through their dream-chasing process, they interact with local mentors and learn how they can inspire and serve their communities back home. Featured personalities include singer/songwriter Jared Cotter, actress Katie Chonacas, model Sheena Sakai, vocalist O'Neal McKnight, and singer Dawn Richard. NOBLE EXCHANGE is produced by Tamara Park and premieres on August 30th at 8:00pm ET.

"Reality TV is all-the-buzz; almost every network has it", notes EVP and General Manager Becky Henderson. "But Halogen is different. Our Fall premieres provide a relevant twist with all new reality series that engage an intelligent, socially-conscious audience who seek to make a difference in their world. And this is just the beginning!  We plan to acquire and create even more of this type of content going forward."
