NetFlow Reporting Leader Discusses Network Security at Interop NY

Plixer's Adam Powers Joins EMA and SAIC to Offer BYOD and Network Management Insights

SANFORD, ME--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2012) - Plixer International, Inc., a leading provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting and threat detection technology, today announced that its Chief Security Officer, Adam Powers, has been invited to address attendees at Interop NYC. Participating within two panel sessions, Powers will discuss how to address Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) issues plaguing corporate networks and the pros, cons, and major decisions points when selecting network management solutions.
The panel discussions will include:

  • BYOD Essentials: Policy and Security Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 3:30-4:30pm. Chaired by Gib Sorebo, VP, Chief Cybersecurity Technologist, SAIC, Powers will join panelist Perry Correll, Director of Product Marketing, Xirrus Inc., to discuss the greatest sea change in mobility since the rise of wireless networks beginning almost three decades ago -- BYOD. This session will explore how to construct effective BYOD polices and maintain security as organizational information finds its way to personal smartphones and tablets.

  • Network Management: Which Direction to Take? Thursday, October 4th, 2012, at 11:45am. Powers will join Moderator Jim Frey, Managing Research Director, Enterprise Management Associates, to discuss the many choices facing network managers when choosing tools and techniques for planning and operating today's networks.

"The application awareness that is possible via NetFlow, IPFIX, and similar flow records can be of great value to network and infrastructure operations," said Jim Frey, managing research director, Enterprise Management Associates. "And yet, a surprising number of organizations have yet to leverage this source of operational intelligence. Plixer is a great example of a management tools provider that, while continuing to push the envelope and get the maximum possible value out of flow records via their Scrutinizer product, has focused on providing a solution that is simple to deploy and within financial reach of organizations of most any size."

"I'm pleased to represent Plixer and the NetFlow collection industry at Interop this year. There are many uses for NetFlow that often go unrecognized. Venues such as Interop provide an opportunity to share what many IT pros already know: visibility is key to proper network management and security monitoring. NetFlow is the visibility enabler," said Adam Powers, Chief Security Officer, Plixer International.

In the battle to gain control of corporate networks, more companies are turning to flow analysis technology enabled by Plixer's Scrutinizer™ product line. Scrutinizer provides detailed network utilization reports showing the applications and users generating network traffic. Leveraging detailed traffic meta-data, even sites with secured connections that use encrypted traffic can't hide from the insight provided by NetFlow and IPFIX collection and reporting. Scrutinizer is designed to peer deep into network traffic enabling the IT administrator to easily see who is consuming bandwidth, what they are using it for and immediately restore precious resources for work-related needs.
