U.S. Business Mission to Egypt Comes to Cairo Marriott Hotel

Top Conference Center in Cairo Hosts Senior Business Officials


CAIRO, EGYPT--(Marketwire - Sep 24, 2012) - The Cairo Marriott Hotel played host to the U.S. Business Mission to Egypt, from September 8-11. The delegation comprises of senior officials in 48 major U.S. companies to discuss aspects of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Part of the program was held at our Cairo luxury hotel and incorporated several meetings with senior officials and Ministers in the Egyptian government including, President Dr. Mohamed Morsy and Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil. Meetings and discussions took place with political opposition parties and Egyptian businessmen to explore the investment opportunities in Egypt after the recent political developments.

Alongside the visit to the Egypt palace hotel, a work session on tourism was held at the Verdi Salon followed by a lavish reception and dinner at the Eugenie and Royal Salons, sponsored by Marriott International. Attending the work session was H.E. Mr. / Hisham Zaazou, Egyptian Minister of Tourism, H.E. Ambassador Anne Patterson, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt and members of the American Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. Receiving them was their host, Mr. Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director Middle East and Africa, Marriott International. H.E. Minister Zaazou shared with the attendees his views and plans about the priorities, initiatives and challenges in the tourism sector which vies with oil as the number one contributor to Egypt's GDP.

In his welcome speech Alex Kyriakidis said: "Egypt is one of our key markets, and Marriott has continued investing in the country. Marriott's contribution to the Egyptian tourism sector is significant, with each of the seven Marriott hotels in the country being owned by Egyptian nationals."
