Military and Veterans Discount Center Partners With Government Vacation Rewards

New Partnership Expands Access to the Largest Database of Military Travel Discounts to Include Veterans

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2013) - The largest online aggregator of discounts available exclusively to both active duty and military veterans and their family just got a little bigger. The Military and Veterans Discount Center (MVDC) is proud to announce it is now partnering with Government Vacation Rewards in order to provide its user members access to even more exclusive military and veteran travel discounts.

Government Vacation Rewards (GVR) is the premier provider of leisure travel services and discounts available exclusively to active duty military and government employees. GVR's travel booking service offers discounts on more than 40 cruise lines, 4,000 resort properties, airlines, golf and ski packages and all major destinations worldwide with no blackout dates and no booking fees. Additionally, GVR donates a portion of all proceeds to support the Department of Defense Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities, the Wounded Warrior Program and Vacations for Veterans.

"What MVDC is doing to help extend military discounts to veterans really fills a gap in the services offered to our country's heroes," said vice president of Government Vacation Rewards, Col. R.John Cully, Retired. "Through MVDC, we now have the ability to promote the GVR discounted leisure travel services and benefits we currently offer active duty military to veterans. This allows GVR and MVDC to work together to further honor their service and sacrifice by giving something back."

The MVDC site currently features more than 310,000 discounts offered to active duty members of the military, veterans, spouses and retirees. Discounts range from local and national franchise restaurants to travel, education, insurance, cell phone service, child care, beauty and personal services, automotive, entertainment and more. Now, when an MVDC user selects a travel discount, they will be given the option to visit the GVR website and its wealth of travel offerings.

"Travel is an integral part of service member's on-duty and off-duty life," said MVDC founder, Terrence Thomas. "GVR's favorable travel discounts acts as a de facto travel benefit for active duty personnel and veterans. Veterans are downright giddy that finally, there is a travel site just for them, with absolutely no membership strings attached other than being a military member, a family member or a veteran."

Since its launch in 2011, close to 100,000 businesses, mainly local small businesses, have added their discounts to MVDC at no cost. To add a discount, simply click on the add a discount feature on MVDC and follow the step-by-step instructions.
