OrionHealth Announces First Ever 10-Day Pain Institute

CANMORE, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 29, 2013) - Chronic pain affects one in five adults. Typically, someone living with chronic pain can spend eight to 10 weeks in a pain management program. Today, OrionHealth announced it will offer the first ever, 10-day Pain Institute in a transformative, retreat-style setting in Canmore, Alberta.

"Our clients travel from all over the country and even around the world to attend our clinic. We realized there are not a lot of alternatives available for people suffering with chronic pain, so we wanted to offer a reputable and unique alternative," says Vivian Ceilin, OrionHealth VP, Alberta Operations and Business Development.

The Pain Institute experience is specifically designed to equip people living with pain with new and effective management strategies as well as a customized health plan to implement after the program ends.

"My chronic pain problem started in 1995 and I was unable to manage it," says client, Robb Tonn, a retired lawyer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. "The Mayo Clinic recommended this type of program. I chose OrionHealth because my spouse could participate." Tonn says the program gave him the change in direction he needed as well as the tools to manage his pain with the support of his spouse.

"It's a holistic experience. This team of psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, pharmacists, doctors and kinesiologists, all develop a plan for you individually. They find out what your needs are. I've seen remarkable transformations in the people who come here."

Participants are assessed by and work with an interdisciplinary team of credentialed professionals who specialize in pain management. Pain related issues such as sleep, pacing, mood, stress, nutrition and relationships are addressed.

The first, all-inclusive Pain Institute will run from Sept. 27 through Oct 6, 2013, and will feature specials guests such as Warren Macdonald, who has shared his story of physical and emotional recovery on both Oprah Winfrey and Larry King. Warren will be joined by Neil Pearson, founder of Life is Now and Malcolm Lim of Rhythm Mastery.

OrionHealth's evidence based consultation, assessment and treatment services and interdisciplinary rehabilitation programs have been helping people achieve excellent outcomes since 1989. Clients travel from around the world to visit our clinics located across Western Canada.
