New York Marriott Downtown Hotel Completes Lobby Renovations and Opens New Starbucks in Lower Manhattan

Downtown Manhattan hotel brings style, comfort and convenience to guests and locals

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 31, 2013) - The 497-room New York Marriott Downtown hotel in Lower Manhattan has completed a lobby renovation that welcomes visitors and hotel guests to a relaxed, clean modern setting, in the most historic neighborhood in New York City. The hotel has also completed a major renovation of its street-level Starbucks®, one of the most popular in the area, at the corner of Washington and Carlisle Streets.

The new lobby décor features neutral tones against dark wood, and soft grey carpeting with large, artistic pinwheel swirls in blue and red accents. The lobby's pressed copper-clad elevator bank is accented by futuristic starburst chandeliers and soft lighting. Intimate new seating areas have been placed with high-backed leather chairs; perfect for a quick business catch-up or to discuss leisure plans for the day.

In a salute to the Lady of the Harbor, the original of which is visible from many of the hotel's guest rooms, a large and prominent piece of graphic artwork depicting the Statue of Liberty graces the lobby's grand staircase landing. Created by graphic artist Liz LaGumina, six repeated square images of the statue's head and crown are revealed in bright blocked colors of blue, orange and mustard. The idea takes its inspiration from the pop art movement and a series of artwork done by Andy Warhol. Additional graphic artwork by other artists pays homage to iconic images of the hotel near the Statue of Liberty.

This lower Manhattan hotel's newly renovated Starbucks is at street level, just two blocks from the entrance to the 9/11 Memorial. Its proximity to downtown attractions and destinations has made it one of the busiest Starbucks in the city, as thousands of visitors come to the area each day.

The New York Marriott Downtown is located at 85 West Street, between Albany and Carlisle Streets, two blocks south of the World Trade Center. This full service Manhattan hotel has 490 rooms and 7 suites, fitness center, a concierge lounge, business center, and a new Bill's Bar & Burger restaurant. It is within close walking distance of all major subway lines and sits just across from the World Financial Center and Battery Park.
