harmon.ie Sees Major Shift in the Thought Leaders Driving Collaboration in the Mobile Enterprise

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2014) - SHAREPOINT CONFERENCE, BOOTH #2024 - With its expanding suite of enterprise collaboration capabilities, Microsoft SharePoint is a critical component of effective collaboration initiatives in today's mobile enterprise. harmon.ie, a proven enterprise mobile collaboration leader, today announced its annual list of the top 25 SharePoint influencers -- the go-to resources empowering millions of businesses to get the most out of SharePoint -- and noted a 400 percent increase in women taking a leadership role this year. Join the harmon.ie team at the SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas, Booth #2024 to celebrate the 2014 #top25sp winners.

"I'd like to thank those that helped recognize me and the others included in this list of top influencers. I hope it ultimately encourages others to be more open and willing to share their experiences. As a whole, we grow from the knowledge that is shared," said Joel Oleson, a top SharePoint influencer award winner. "Our community really has grown beyond the SharePoint product to be a strong force for knowledge across collaboration, knowledge management, enterprise content management, enterprise social, mobile productivity and more. It's incredible to me how social media has changed not just our ability to share information, but also empowered and given a voice to the little guy.

This year, harmon.ie commissioned prominent industry analyst Dana Gardner and Scratch Marketing + Media to identify the leaders who are helping others navigate and understand the potential of the platform. Based on a finalist list of the top 100 SharePoint professionals, a weighted formula was used to identify the top 25 U.S. SharePoint influencers. Selection was based on: each professional's SharePoint knowledge and business impact; digital and social presence and influence; blog reach and frequency; depth of SharePoint topic coverage; citations by other influential bloggers; and more than 3,000 qualified community votes.

"Influencers act as catalysts in the SharePoint community for discussion and innovation, which then gets filtered back to Microsoft," said Dana Gardner, principal analyst, Interarbor Solutions. "An important step in leveraging this symbiotic relationship is identifying and acknowledging those influencers who drive discussions and opinions, and that's exactly what we set out to do."

This year, women exceeded previous achievements by nabbing four spots, 16 percent of the list -- a major milestone when compared to the lone female influencer who made the 2013 list.

"I am proud to be selected as a Top 25 SharePoint influencer for 2014 and I am happy to see women becoming recognized for the influence they have always brought to the SharePoint community," said Laura Rogers, senior SharePoint consultant at Rackspace Hosting.

On the occupation front, 48 percent of the winners are SharePoint specialists/consultants, whereas the other two major categories are senior executives and SharePoint architects/engineers/developers; each category accounts for 24 percent of the list. Similar to last year, North American leaders dominate the list, with 21 of the top 25 influencers residing in the United States or Canada. So without further delay, the top 10 SharePoint influencers are:

  1. Andrew Connell - @andrewconnell
