CAHPI(BC) June 21st Invite for Review of 2012 National Standards of Practice (SOP)

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - In 2012 the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors of British Columbia - CAHPI(BC), by the unanimous vote of its membership, brought a truly Canadian home inspection Standard of Practice (SOP) to life in British Columbia. The CAHPI Standard is an enhanced version of the ASHI standards, which has provided guidance to the industry for over 21 years. The new standards support CAHPI home inspectors, and their clients all across Canada, in delivering consistent inspection services from sea to sea to sea.

On June 21, 2014 we will be hosting an information session for public and industry stakeholders to gather information and take questions related to the CAHPI Standards in British Columbia. You are invited to attend at the Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel, 3500 Cessna Rd, Richmond on Saturday, June 21st commencing 10:00 am.

CAHPI(BC), the largest association of home inspectors in the province, has been critical of lax laws and non-existent inspection standards since our inception in 1991. Since licensing for home inspectors was enacted in 2009, we continue to work with Consumer Protection BC to close loopholes that allow insufficiently trained inspectors to conduct home inspections, and have pushed to raise standards to ensure every home buyer gets a comprehensive and accurate home inspection from the industry.

This stakeholder dialogue is a continuation of CAHPI(BC)'s ongoing effort to improve the home inspection profession and meet the needs of consumers.
