McCline for Congress Campaign Pledges Action Plan for FL CD 20, Calls for Congressional Investigation Into Communities in Crisis

DELRAY BEACH, FL--(Marketwired - May 22, 2014) - Jameel McCline, Democratic candidate in Florida's 20th congressional District, is taking action to deal with what he calls a "crisis of neglect."

The McCline for Congress campaign faces an uphill battle against 77-year-old, 21-year incumbent Congressman Alcee Hastings, who McCline will face in the FL CD 20 August 26 Democratic primary. But it's a fight former WBO-NBO Heavyweight Champion McCline is passionate about waging, and winning.

"In recent days, I've toured Belle Glade and other overlooked, under-served parts of District 20. I've heard heartbreaking stories from residents struggling with chronic unemployment, unacceptable crime and incarceration rates, substandard housing, under-funded schools, and a profound lack of economic opportunities.

After talking to people in churches and bowling alleys and coffee shops, after information gathering sessions with city officials, I can safely say; this is a city and an entire region of District 20 that is in crisis. The attention and support needed from Congress, other branches of government, and the private sector, are missing in action, and have been for a long time. That's unacceptable, and it has to change.

One of my first acts as new U.S. Representative from Florida's 20th congressional district, will be to call for a congressional investigation and action plan that figures out how such neglect could have been allowed to continue for so long, and what actions we're going to take to turn things around."

McCline for Congress will soon introduce elements of an Action Plan For Change, explaining how new investments and opportunities in places like Belle Glade will also grow the economy and ease the middle-class tax burden, district and statewide.
