Official Breast Cancer Butterfly Beach 'gloWalk' & 5K Fun Run

Honoring Survivors, My Hope Chest Puts a Twist on the Traditional Walk

ST. PETERSBURG, FL--(Marketwired - Jun 4, 2014) - My Hope Chest is joining in the fun of charity runs and walks this fall and adding spice to the mix.

The first annual "Butterfly gloWalk, 5K Fun Run and Party" will take flight on Pass-A-Grille Beach on Saturday, September 20th at 7pm. The charity event begins at dusk for an evening of fitness and fun along the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico. The party begins at the finish line at Hurley Park during awards, with food, competition games, libations and more supporting My Hope Chest's mission providing breast reconstruction to uninsured and under insured breast cancer survivors.

"My Hope Chest's unique mission helps breast cancer survivors 'transform' into 'butterflies,'" explained My Hope Chest's founder, Alisa Savoretti. "We are hoping Tampa Bay businesses, groups and individuals that have supported breast cancer walks in the past will join our unique beach crusade of happiness this year to help finish for women what breast cancer had started."

Just as a caterpillar may see its world coming to an end before it becomes a butterfly, women facing breast cancer are terrified by the unknown. Still, of those that survive treatment, many are unable to heal physically and emotionally because they lack the means for breast reconstruction. This is where My Hope Chest steps in.

The fundraising begins at www.myhopechest.org in June where supporters can sign up their Butterfly Teams and begin to rally fundraising support for My Hope Chest.

"We designed the Butterfly gloWalk & 5K Fun Run to be different than traditional walks," continued Savoretti. "We can't wait to see 'glowing' participants having fun for charity, at night, on the beach wearing 'wings!' We are looking forward to a great turnout at our first annual event and party, raising funds and supporting our mission of HAPPY and new beginnings for survivors!"

My Hope Chest will share a portion of proceeds to support local bill pay organizations that help patients in treatment who can't keep up with daily living expenses. "This is an area underserved and needing much more support in breast cancer and all cancer initiatives," explained Savoretti.
