Ingram Micro Named North American Distributor of the Year by EMC

Distributor's Advanced Computing Division Takes Top Honors for Increasing Sales Growth, Expanding Reseller Relationships and Delivering Value-Added Services and Strategic Alliances

SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 9, 2014) - Demonstrating its market expertise and growing partner value, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale technology distributor and a global leader in supply-chain and mobile device lifecycle services, today announced it has been named North American Distributor of the Year by EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service.

The prestigious honor was presented earlier this month to Ingram Micro's Advanced Computing Division at the 2014 EMC® World Global Partner Summit by Gregg Ambulos, EMC senior vice president of Global Channel Sales, and John Albanese, EMC senior vice president of Americas Mid-Market Sales, and accepted by Scott Zahl, vice president and general manager, Ingram Micro Advanced Computing Division, U.S.

"Ingram Micro has advanced its technical, sales and marketing expertise, and is well positioned as an indispensable business partner that is delivering exceptional value to EMC by going beyond lead generation to excel in a number of areas such as onboarding new channel partners and enhancing EMC's relationships with complementary virtualization and infrastructure partners," says Zahl. "We're proud to be named EMC's North American Distributor of the Year, and will continue to work together to exceed our goals and help our mutual channel partners and their customers realize the promise of technology."

Building on its successful 8-year relationship with EMC, Ingram Micro significantly expanded its overall EMC business in 2013, emerging as EMC's fastest-growing distributor. In addition, Ingram Micro built out an EMC VSPEX®Assembly and Integration Services practice that allows EMC to ship fully integrated VSPEX infrastructure solutions, featuring best-of-breed storage virtualization, server and networking technology, direct to end customers via the channel.

Additionally, in 2013, Ingram Micro recruited and enabled more net new relationships than any other EMC distributor in North America and invested in expanding its dedicated resources within core areas of the business such as technical consulting, sales and dedicated VSPEX business development managers.

The distributor also completed more than 350 Data Protection and Availability Division (DPAD) assessments with its resellers and their end-user customers in 2013, ultimately growing its DPAD business by nearly 40 percent year over year. Ingram Micro also leveraged its Physical Security practice resources, together with EMC's Isilon® technical team for network attached storage, to develop a fully integrated and EMC-supported physical security appliance designed to help gain market share.

"This unique and diversified approach to growing EMC's business has resulted in faster solution deployment timelines and increased partner and end-user satisfaction, especially with VSPEX. These results also clearly demonstrate how Ingram Micro has enriched its EMC relationship to help us fuel growth and ensure success for our channel partners," says Maureen Perrelli, senior director, Global Distribution, EMC. "We congratulate Ingram Micro on an outstanding year and this well-deserved recognition as our North American Distributor of the Year."
