RELEASE: ExcelinEd Defends Nevada Education Savings Account Program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, the Foundation for Excellence in Education launched www.DropTheSuitNV.org to defend Nevada's fledgling Education Savings Account Program (ESA) from a baseless lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

This summer, Nevada became the first state to empower all public school parents with the right to choose their children's schools. They can direct a portion of the state funds that would have been spent on their child in a traditional public school into an education savings account. They then can decide how to spend those funds to meet their child's educational needs. This option is available to more than 450,000 Nevada children through the Nevada ESA Program. Applications are available now.

"Parents face so many decisions when it comes to their children. They are the best decision makers. Yet one of the most critical decisions involving children - their education - is denied to far too many parents," said Patricia Levesque, CEO of the Foundation for Excellence in Education. "You might think an organization that professes to champion individual liberties for each person might celebrate this newfound freedom granted to each parent. But instead, the ACLU has filed a lawsuit to block the program and take decisions away from Nevada parents."

In response to the lawsuit, the Foundation for Excellence in Education has launched www.DropTheSuitNV.org to help ensure Nevada parents can choose the best education for their children. The new website also contains comprehensive and valuable information on Nevada's Universal ESA Program, including facts about the program and how to apply.

Nevada families deserve better than to be placed in the crosshairs of ACLU's misguided political agenda. ExcelinEd and our partners encourage all Nevadans to sign the petition telling the ACLU to Drop The Suit!
