Lemon Law Trial Bears Fruit for Florida Consumers, Says Krohn & Moss, Ltd.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL--(Marketwired - Oct 3, 2013) - Two consumers from Lantana, Florida received a jury verdict against Chrysler Group, LLC on September 27, 2013 after Chrysler failed to repair repeated instances of the engine stalling and surging in their 2007 Chrysler Sebring. Mother and daughter, Lazara and Amy Gonzalez, filed a breach of warranty complaint against Chrysler after Chrysler's dealers failed to repair various defects in their vehicle. Before doing so, Ms. Gonzalez contacted Krohn & Moss, Ltd. Consumer Law Center®, a Chicago based consumer protection law firm that has handled over 35,000 cases nationwide since its inception in 1995. Krohn & Moss, Ltd. Consumer Law Center® initially contacted Chrysler in writing seeking a resolution without court intervention. However, efforts to resolve this "lemon law" dispute were unsuccessful and the case proceeded to trial.

In reaching its verdict, the jury found that Chrysler had been provided a "reasonable number of attempts" to repair the Sebring, but failed to do so. The jury awarded the Gonzalez family $9,511.11 in damages representing how much they overpaid for the vehicle due to its defects. Additionally, per federal law, the Gonzalez family will be able to seek payment for the attorneys' fees and costs their lawyers incurred handling this matter directly from Chrysler. Brent Wikgren, lead trial attorney for the Gonzalez family who tried this case with his co-counsel Jessica Smith, commented on the jury's verdict, "This verdict sends a message to all manufacturers that they need to stand behind their products and the excuse that they are 'working on a fix' for the very product they manufactured and profited from is unacceptable." Mr. Wikgren can be reached by calling Krohn & Moss, Ltd. Consumer Law Center® at (312) 578-9428, extension 203 or e-mail Mr. Wikgren directly at bwikgren@consumerlawcenter.com.
