Novasoft Deploys Exalt Systems to Expand Network in Southern Spain

Exalt Microwave Backhaul Systems Deliver Reliable, Fiber-Speed Network Connectivity Outside of Fiber POPs

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 4, 2013) - Exalt Communications, Inc., the leading innovator of next-generation packet microwave backhaul systems, today announced that Novasoft, a leading wireless Internet service provider headquartered in Malaga, Spain, has deployed Exalt microwave backhaul systems to expand its network to reach thousands of business and residential customers located far away from fiber POPs. The new microwave network extends into parts of Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, and Andalucía in southern Spain, carrying both TDM and IP traffic for customer services.

The Novasoft network uses Exalt all-outdoor systems in the 5, 13, 15, 23, and 38 GHz frequency bands and currently carries native TDM and 100 megabits per-second (Mbps) of Ethernet traffic. The Exalt systems can be upgraded easily as Ethernet traffic warrants to 200 megabits per-second. Download speed for residential customers is 7 Mbps; business and government customers can choose speeds up to 50 Mbps.

"We must carry TDM and IP traffic to distant customers, and laying new fiber was out of the question, so microwave was the obvious choice," said Luis Amigo, IT manager at Novasoft. "We chose Exalt from among other vendors because Exalt offers all-outdoor systems with the ability to carry native TDM as well as native Ethernet."

Exalt licensed radios deployed by Novasoft feature unique field-replaceable diplexers, which make installation easier and enable Novasoft to use one radio to spare an entire licensed band. Novasoft technicians in the field can change the sub-band of an Exalt radio immediately, if necessary, rather than replace an entire system. Novasoft has experienced outstanding performance and reliability from the Exalt systems, and is deploying more of them to further expand its network.

"With the demand for higher network performance to support real-time video streaming and other bandwidth-intensive applications, broadband access is experiencing high growth rates in rural areas worldwide," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "To build a profitable business serving rural customers, wireless Internet service providers face many challenges, not the least of which are network expansion and cost control. Our innovative systems facilitate growth while protecting existing investments, enabling customers like Novasoft to expand their networks and attract and retain customers without sacrificing profitability."
