Panera Bread to Open 30th Bakery-Cafe in Pittburgh Market April 22


PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwired - Apr 18, 2014) -  Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, will open its 30th location in the Pittsburgh market (1025 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA) on April 22, 2014 at 6am with special grand opening offers.

The new Bridgeville location will offer several grand opening specials and giveaways Tuesday, April 22 through Thursday, April 24:

  • Tuesday, April 22
    • Starting at 10a.m. on Tuesday, the first 500 customers who purchase any Panera Bread Menu item will receive a free travel mug with free coffee for two weeks.
    • Purchase a You-Pick-Two and receive a $5 Panera Bread gift card for your next visit.
  • Wednesday, April 23
    • Purchase a You-Pick-Two and receive a $5 Panera Bread gift card for your next visit.
  • Thursday, April 24
    • Half-price Breakfast Sandwiches and Egg Soufflés. (Until 11:00 a.m.)

The Bridgeville café has hired 63 employees to fill full and part time positions as well as third shift bakers. This increases the total number of employees to approximately 1,500 that are employed by the 30 Covelli Enterprises Panera Bread cafe locations in the Pittsburgh area.

Since Panera Bread was founded, the company and its franchisees have been active community partners. At the end of each day, Panera Bread donates all unsold bread and baked goods to local area hunger relief agencies as part of its local Day-End Dough-Nation program. In 2013 the Pittsburgh cafes alone donated nearly 3 million dollars in monetary and in-kind donations. The 2014 Pittsburgh area charity Operation Dough-Nation partners benefitting from monetary donations collected at the café registers include, The Best Of the Batch Foundation, Jameson's Army, The Dan Marino Foundation, The Education Partnership, Western, PA Humane Society, Young Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, The Salvation Army's Project Bundle Up, and 3-2-1 Ride. Panera Pittsburgh is soon to be presenting the 5th Annual Panera Puppy Walk on Sunday, June 8th at the Waterfront. This event and partnership has raised over $45,000 for the Western, PA Humane Society.
