Ivera Medical Announces New "Tips" Product and a Dramatic Increase in Capacity

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2014) - Ivera Medical announced it was launching a new version of its patent-pending Curos® Tips product, which is used to passively disinfect male luer connectors on intravenous access devices, including IV tubing and syringes. Ivera was first to market and pioneered the passive disinfection market with its Curos Port Protectors, Curos Strips and Curos Tips.

As the leader in the field, Ivera has created a strong intellectual property portfolio that includes a broad range of issued patents, an exclusive license to the seminal and soon to be issued patent in the port protector space, and numerous patents pending.

"We have experienced explosive growth in this market and ensuring continuity of supply by increasing capacity is important to support our customers," said Bob Rogers, CEO of Ivera Medical. "Recently one of our competitors has sought to enjoin Ivera from selling Curos Tips, claiming the product infringes two recently issued patents. We respect the patent rights of others, and Ivera strongly disputes both the claimed infringement and the validity of those patents. That said, the possibility that Ivera could be prevented from supplying our customers this valuable product is not acceptable, so we have designed the new Curos Tips to clearly fall outside of their patent claims. Most customers will not notice any change with the new product and can take comfort that Ivera is dedicated to continuity in their supply of high quality Curos Tips."

The product is expected to be released shortly and will replace the current version of Curos Tips, which will no longer be manufactured. The changes in the product will require no new regulatory filings. The packaging and product number will remain the same, allowing for a seamless transition to the new product.
