Marriott Hotel Near Westside Chicago Names Elizabeth "Buffy" Esslinger as Catering Sales Manager

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Jul 24, 2014) - The Marriott Chicago at Medical District/UIC is proud to announce the promotion of Elizabeth "Buffy" Esslinger to the role of Catering Sales Manager.

Most recently, Esslinger held the role of Sales and Catering Coordinator starting in August 2013. Before joining the Davidson team at our Chicago Marriott, Esslinger built her Marriott experience on Michigan Ave. in the role of Front Desk Agent starting in 2011.

Esslinger graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a bachelor's degree in Theatre and Radio Broadcasting. Her educational background proved to be an unexpected advantage, and instrumental in her ascension through the ranks of this hotel near United Center.

"Buffy's strong interpersonal skills were developed by studying Theatre at Columbia College Chicago. This has been one of her strongest assets brought to our sales team at Davidson. We are excited to see Buffy grow within our company. She is definitely an up and coming hospitality star," said Camille Garcia, Director of Sales at Marriott Chicago Medical District/UIC.

As someone who loves people and networking she busted into the hospitality world in 2011 when she started at the Blackstone Hotel downtown. She quickly realized her potential for events and sales and moved over to the Marriott Chicago at Medical District/UIC. She hopes to continue her outstanding work while she helps her team distinguish their property from other Chicago Union Station hotels

"Dreams are able to change, shift and transform. They are your dreams after all. Don't ever stop following them," Esslinger said when asked about her transition from the stage to hospitality.
