Ingram Micro Hosts 19th Annual East Coast Charity Golf Tournament

Gathering of Associates, Partners Expected to Raise More Than $275,000 for Local Organizations

BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 28, 2014) - On Saturday, Aug. 2, the Buffalo office of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) will host the 19th Annual East Coast Charity Golf Tournament at The Links at Ivy Ridge in Akron, N.Y. The annual fundraising event is expected to raise more than $275,000 and will benefit four local charities, which plan to use the funds as follows:

  • Heritage Centers, an organization that provides services for those with developmental disabilities and their families, will use the funds to build a nurses' station in one of their schools.
  • Western New York Heroes will use the funds to continue its mission of providing support for Western New York veterans and their families.
  • Save the Michaels will use the funds to develop an educational program about the dangers of prescription drug abuse, to be taught in schools and within the community.
  • City Kids will use the funds to continue providing outdoor education programs for underserved and at-risk inner-city youth.

"Giving back to the community has always been a priority at Ingram Micro, and to accomplish that while having such a fun day on the golf course with our associates and partners is a great opportunity," said Marty Battaglia, senior sales director for Ingram Micro U.S. and the event organizer for the past 10 years.

This year's event will include more than 150 golfers and is made possible by a team of more than 100 volunteers, as well as the support of the event's major sponsors -- Wells Fargo, HP, Cisco, Juniper and AddOn Computer. In conjunction with the golf tournament, a basket raffle and silent auction will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at Ingram Micro's Buffalo office. Items were donated by manufacturer partners and Ingram Micro associates.

"We're pleased to be able to bring back this event each year, and it wouldn't be possible without the support of our associates, vendor partners, and community," Battaglia said. "With their help, we've been able to make a positive impact in the community in which we work and live, extending our commitment to Buffalo well beyond the doors of our office."

Ingram Micro's Annual East Coast Charity Golf Tournament began in 1995 and has cumulatively raised more than $1.4 million for charity since its inception.
