The Spectators' Guide to Colorado Cycling Events: Cheers, Bikes and Brews


DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Aug 1, 2014) - This August, Colorado welcomes many cycling events including one of the largest cycling races in U.S. history. Spectators can cheer and check out leisurely bike trails and craft beer in host destinations. For more information, visit www.COLORADO.com.

Aspen. The Rio Grande Trail is a paved bike path that runs from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Aspen Brewing Company is located downtown on Aspen's famed Restaurant Row. Ride to Carbondale to visit Roaring Fork Brewing.

Snowmass Village. From the paved network of trails in Snowmass pedal down to Woody Creek Tavern. Also stop by the New Belgium Ranger Station in the Snowmass Mall.

Crested Butte. Hit one of the many mountain bike trails before stopping at The Eldo Brewery & Taproom. Also stop by rum distiller Montanya Distillers, named Craft Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute.

Gunnison. A great casual ride is the VanTuyl Ranch 5K loop starting at 11th and Spencer Avenue. Continue on to Gunnison Brewery, located on Main Street in Gunnison.

Monarch Mountain (Salida). Start your adventure at Amicas Pizza and Microbrewery on 2nd Street. On 3rd Street, visit Moonlight Pizza and Brew Pub for a pint of local craft beer. Get back on the bike to Elevation Beer Company.

Colorado Springs. Start at Garden of the Gods and ride through the park to Manitou Springs to the new Manitou Brewing Company followed by a ride to Colorado Mountain Brewery. Then take Cascade Avenue to head to Bristol Brewing Company at the Ivywild School or take Tejon to Fieldhouse Brewing Company. Head north on Tejon to find Phantom Canyon Brewery.

Woodland Park. Breweries in Woodland Park can be accessed from Colorado Mountain Brewery in Colorado Springs by heading west on Highway 24. This route takes you to Bierwerks Brewery and Paradox Beer Company.

Breckenridge. Coast downhill on the Blue River rec path to Broken Compass. Ride beside the river back to Main Street and don't forget to stop at the original Breckenridge Brewery.

Vail. The Vail Recreation Path runs from East Vail to West Vail. After leaving Lionshead, cyclists may choose to stop at the Vail Cascade, which has positioned itself as Vail's home to craft beer.

Boulder. Start your Boulder Bike to Brewery Tour on Pearl Street Mall and stop at West Flanders, Walnut Brewery, Shine or Mountain Sun. Ride the Boulder Creek path, downhill and east towards Avery Brewing. Stop at Fate and Upslope brewing on the way. Also find Boulder Beer, Sanitas Brewing and Twisted Pine.

Denver. Start your ride at Denver Beer Company. Pedal over to Confluence Park on the Platte River Trail to the Cherry Creek Bike Path. Once to Wynkoop Street, stop at the Wynkoop Brewing Company. A few more notable brewery stops include Blue Moon Brewery and Epic Brewery Denver.
