Philippines Hotel Announces a New Director of Convention Sales and New Ballroom

MANILA, PHILIPPINES--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2014) - Joy Florentino has just been named the new Director of Convention Sales at the Manila Marriott Hotel, a top hotel near Manila airport.

As the Director of Convention Sales, Florentino will lead the team in driving new business for the hotel, which is a premier event venue at Resorts World Manila. She will focus on Association Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) both domestic and international. Florentino is a Certified Meeting Planner who has received numerous awards, and is a four-time Chairman's Circle Award winner and a four-time President's Circle winner.

Prior to joining the Manila Marriott Hotel, Florentino was Senior Market Account Executive for the Western Mountain Pacific Sales, where she placed MICE business in 65 properties from Canada to Colorado. She has also served as a former Associate Vice Chair of the California Society of Association Executives, a past president of Meeting Professionals International, Sacramento Sierra Nevada Chapter, and a Director of Sales for Marriott International's Sacramento Area Cluster. Florentino was born in the Philippines, but moved to the USA with her family at a very young age. She is a graduate of California State University.

Florentino is joining the hotel just in time for the opening of the new Marriott Grand Ballroom and new Hotel Tower, set to open in January 2015. The exciting expansion of the hotel will add 6,800 square meters of state-of-the-art meeting space to the hotel, which will include 25 new function rooms in Manila, as well as a new Grand Ballroom. Guests and event planners can book the new Resorts World Manila function rooms for any business or social event.

The hotel will also be adding 228 premium rooms in an adjacent tower, as well as five food and beverage outlets to complete what will be the Philippines' premier meeting venue and social destination.
