Oswalt Law Group Discusses the Implications of "Super Extreme DUI"

Oswalt Law Group, a Criminal and DUI Defense Firm in Phoenix, Discusses the Implications of a "Super Extreme" DUI Conviction as Part of the Recent Suspension of P.J. Tucker From the Phoenix Suns

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Aug 29, 2014) -  P.J. Tucker has been a promising forward for the Phoenix Suns, but a recent arrest and conviction for "super extreme DUI" has led to his suspension for three games of the next season and could have jeopardized his $16.5 million contract to play for the next three years with the Suns. According to reports, Tucker stated that he was "truly sorry" and willing to take "full responsibility" for the consequences of driving with a measured blood alcohol content of .22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit for impaired driving.

Tucker will spend three days in jail, the minimum required by law, and 11 days on house arrest as a result of his guilty plea. He will also install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for 18 months at his own expense and pay a $2,750 fine.

As DUI defense attorneys, lawyers at the Oswalt Law Group have handled many cases of extreme and super extreme DUI. Unlike many other states, Arizona makes a strong distinction between driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content close to the legal limit of .08 percent and those who drive with very high BACs. Anything above .15 percent is considered "extreme DUI," and anything above .20 is considered "super extreme DUI." Penalties increase accordingly.

According to the Oswalt Law Group, "It is always important for those who have been charged with DUI to have sound representation from an experienced lawyer. However, it is even more important when the driver is charged with extreme DUI or super extreme DUI. While public opinion is rightfully strong against DUI, every person is charged with this crime under a different set of circumstances and each case must be handled individually. Further, all people charged with any crime have the right to a strong defense provided by an experienced attorney."

"These charges carry a much greater possibility of long-term jail sentences and thousands of dollars in fines as well as other penalties. For those charged with super extreme DUI, failing to hire a defense attorney can be a crucial mistake."
