Federal Public Servants Honoured at Rideau Hall

Today, over 200 outstanding public servants were recognized during the annual Public Service Award of Excellence ceremony held at Rideau Hall. The awards were presented by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Wayne G. Wouters, Clerk of the Privy Council.

  • The awards are open to individuals and teams from all levels of government.
  • There are 13 categories, including Outstanding Career, Management Excellence, Innovation, Excellence in Citizen-Focused Service Delivery, Employment Equity and Diversity, Official Languages, Excellence in Policy, Youth, Exemplary Contribution Under Extraordinary Circumstances, The Joan Atkinson Award, Scientific Contribution, Large-Scale Special Event or Project, and 60 Years of Service Special Award.
  • The Clerk of the Privy Council also used the occasion to recognize the 2014 Victoria Strait expedition team that recently located one of the ships from the historic 1845 Franklin Expedition.

  • The recipients were first announced in June during National Public Service Week.
  • The award is non-monetary and not open to deputy minister-level employees.
