Celebrating Local Arts and Heritage in Brant: Government of Canada Supports the St. George Applefest

ST. GEORGE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $6,200 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to support the 30^th edition of the St. George Applefest. The festival celebrates the rural cultural heritage of Brant County through community-oriented programming.

Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament (Brant), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

• This year's Applefest will take place on September 20 and 21. It will include music and dance performances by local artists, as well as displays by local artisans.
• The festival, which will feature over 87 multidisciplinary artists, artisans and heritage performers, is expected to draw an attendance of 25,000 people.
• The festival celebrates the agricultural heritage of Brant County, one of Ontario's noted apple-growing regions.
