Celebrating Local Arts and Heritage in Brant: Government of Canada Supports the St. George Applefest


ST. GEORGE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $6,200 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to support the 30th edition of the St. George Applefest. The festival celebrates the rural cultural heritage of Brant County through community-oriented programming.

Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament (Brant), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

  • This year's Applefest will take place on September 20 and 21. It will include music and dance performances by local artists, as well as displays by local artisans.
  • The festival, which will feature over 87 multidisciplinary artists, artisans and heritage performers, is expected to draw an attendance of 25,000 people.
  • The festival celebrates the agricultural heritage of Brant County, one of Ontario's noted apple-growing regions.
