KAILUA-KONA, HI--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2014) - Focusing on the perseverance, determination and endurance of its participants, the 36th annual IRONMAN World Championship will be held Oct. 11, 2014 drawing thousands of participants and spectators to hotels in Kona, Hawaii. While the much anticipated event concludes a week of events for some, the race culminates years of training and preparation for most.

Proudly continuing its partnership as the official headquarters for the IRONMAN World Championship, the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel joins participants in celebrating the race's 36th anniversary. Continuing its commitment to "Anything is Possible," this year's IRONMAN motto is "Ho'omau -- perseverance, determination, endurance."

"We're proud to retain our designation as host hotel for this world-renowned event," said Jak Hu, general manager of the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. "The event not only celebrates the dedication and courage of these athletes, but showcases our island's diverse terrain and profound beauty."

In addition to hosting a variety of IRONMAN events throughout the week, the Kona Airport hotel's location includes both the starting and finishing line for the event. The hotel's prime location, well-maintained grounds and expansive facilities provide an ideal setting for competitors, staff and media to make their way through registration, mandatory meetings, secondary events, the concluding awards ceremony and "Banquet of Champions." As official headquarters, the race office and IRONMAN® store will be located inside the distinctive Kona hotel, which offers travelers to Hawaii's Big Island a variety of deals and discounts throughout the year. Currently the hotel is featuring a $152 nightly rate for those who take advantage of its Advance Purchase promotion now through the end of the year.

More than 2,000 athletes from around the world have qualified and are expected to take part in the 140.6-mile triathlon which includes a 2.4-mile swim in Kailua Bay, a 112-mile bicycle route and 26.2-mile run along the Kona Coast.
