Supporting the 2014 Skate Canada International Grand Prix of Figure Skating

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 31, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

On behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), the Honourable Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament (Kelowna-Lake Country), today announced $45,000 in funding to Skate Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the hosting of the 2014 Skate Canada International Grand Prix of Figure Skating, being held at Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia, from October 31 to November 2, 2014.

• The Skate Canada International Grand Prix of Figure Skating is held every year and attracts 52 athletes from 13 countries.
• Sport Canada's Sport Support Program is providing up to $2,097,000 to Skate Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
• Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program provided nearly $525,000 to 39 Canadian figure skaters to assist with living, training, and tuition support in 2013-2014.
