Why: Working America Health Care is a consumer advocacy program that helps working-class Americans learn about health insurance marketplaces; connect with licensed brokers to better understand their options and purchase coverage; and receive the most out of their health insurance plans and budgets.

Even those looking to renew last year's plan can benefit by checking out the Working America Health Care program before "auto-renewing" their plan. Purchasing a plan through licensed brokers affiliated with Working America Health Care costs the same as purchasing through another broker or on a public exchange and includes access to added member benefits at no additional cost, including:

  • Dental and vision care savings plans provided by Union Plus
  • Health Advocate service for assistance with coverage and claims questions as well as a nurse helpline
  • Free membership in Working America

Who: Working America Health Care's project director Maribeth Healey is available for inquiries about the program and the members who are benefiting from its Health Advocate service. Tony Cheng of Working America and Eleanor Trice of Union Plus are also available. Members who've purchased a plan may be available upon request.
