Death of an Inmate - Saskatchewan Penitentiary


SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Dec. 26, 2014) - Correctional Service Canada

On December 25, 2014, Darcy Charles Alexson, an inmate at Saskatchewan Penitentiary, died on route to a local hospital in Saskatoon.

At the time of his death, Mr. Alexson, 50 years old, had been serving a sentence of two years, two months for Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order, Drive More Than 80 mg and Possession of Schedule II Substance since August 12, 2013.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
