Orange County Plastic Surgeon Performs Non-Surgical Stretch Mark Treatment During KCAL-9 TV Live Segment

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 21, 2015) - Dr. Semira Bayati, a plastic surgeon in Orange County, was recently featured on Los Angeles' CBS affiliate KCAL-9 demonstrating a new technique to reduce signs of stretch marks and mild scarring. Performing the treatment on an actual patient in the studio, Dr. Bayati talked the viewing audience through the Stretch Mark Eraser procedure, a treatment that uses a microneedling technique to introduce stem cells from the patient's own blood into the targeted areas. She notes that the stem cells can ultimately renew the growth of collagen and minimize signs of stretch marks. Dr. Bayati says the procedure is non-surgical and virtually painless. "As you know, with the joy of pregnancy and childbirth comes some unwanted marks, whether they are stretch marks or c-section scars. This procedure works perfectly to reduce those marks so you can have your bikini-body ready again for the summer."

Stretch marks are a condition experienced by both men and women, and they are particularly common among women who have had children. During the live procedure, Dr. Bayati explained the process of Stretch Mark Eraser treatment. First, platelet-rich plasma containing stem cells is separated from a sample of the patient's blood. Then, the plasma is rubbed on the area of the skin exhibiting stretch marks or scarring. Dr. Bayati then uses the Eclipse Micropen™ -- a small instrument containing multiple vibrating needles to make tiny breaks in the skin, providing a path through which the stem cells can penetrate. The stem cells are then able to stimulate collagen growth in the treatment area, helping to give the skin a smoother appearance and reducing signs of stretch marks and scarring.

Dr. Bayati says it usually takes at least three treatments for optimal results, and some patients may need up to five sessions, depending on the depth of the stretch mark or scar and the size of the treatment area. Dr. Bayati says variations of the microneedling technique can be effective for a number of skin conditions, and even as a treatment for hair loss.

Since the procedure does not involve surgery, Dr. Bayati says the Stretch Mark Eraser treatment does not usually require excessive recovery time, and the patient typically only feels a mild tickling sensation. "It's very comfortable, and it's become very popular because of that!"
