Pertino Partners With SoftBank Commerce & Service to Launch Channel for SDN-Powered Cloud Networking Service in Japan

LOS GATOS, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2015) - Pertino

  • SoftBank C&S Becomes First BlueSky™ Premier Partner in Japan
  • FujiSoft first to offer full-scale solutions based on Pertino and Amazon Web Service (AWS)
  • Pertino Japan solution to be built on robust Amazon Web Services (AWS) in its Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region

Pertino, a company reinventing networking for the mobile and cloud era, today announced the launch of a Japanese sales channel for its SDN-powered cloud networking service through a distribution partnership with SoftBank Commerce & Services Corp. (SoftBank C&S). This is the first major partnership in Japan and the second inked under the company's BlueSky Partner Program -- launched in September 2014 -- following last quarter's announcement of an alliance with Dell to integrate and resell Pertino's Cloud Network Engine service within the Dell Cloud Marketplace. Pertino's solution in Japan will be built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in its Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region, which allows companies of all sizes to build and manage safe and scalable VPNs as a cloud-based service.

Japanese small and midsized enterprises (SMEs) are adopting mobile, cloud and SaaS technologies at a higher rate than many other countries, but IT organizations are struggling to adapt their traditional, hardware-based WAN and security infrastructures to this demand. Enter Pertino and its SDN-powered cloud networking -- a cloud-based service that lets anyone build a secure VPN that connects users and resources everywhere but doesn't require hardware or expertise to deploy and manage.

As the first BlueSky Premier Distribution partner in Japan, SoftBank C&S will deliver the Pertino cloud networking service to SMEs through a diverse channel of leading Information Communications Technology (ICT) and mobile resellers and cloud integration partners including launch partners FujiSoft, Inc. (FSI), which boasts a track record of cloud service implementation, and NEC Networks & System Integration Corp. (NESIC), which has experience in SDN implementation. Participation of other companies -- including JBCC Corporation, COMTURE CORPORATION, Serverworks Co., Ltd. and STARTIA, INC. -- is also planned.

According to the Asia Cloud Computing Association's 2014 Cloud Readiness Index, Japan boasts Asia's most cloud-friendly economy, most sophisticated business environment and best data sovereignty, resulting in the highest cloud adoption rates in the Asia-Pacific region. Despite the overwhelming number of SMEs per capita, the report found that size is no barrier when it comes to organizations embracing cloud-based services as a competitive and cost-saving measure.

"As a leading mobile and ICT solutions provider to enterprises of all sizes, SoftBank C&S is pleased to be the first Pertino BlueSky Premier Distributor for the Pertino cloud networking service in Japan," said Kenichi Harayama, Vice-President of the Merchandising Division, ICT Business Unit at SoftBank C&S. "With Pertino, customers can set up a software-defined VPN over the public Internet in minutes that extends enterprise-level security, visibility and control to distributed workforces, workloads and SaaS applications without hardware and complexity."

Aimed at cloud-centric resellers, distributors and service providers, the BlueSky Partner Program is geared to attract partners seeking to incorporate cloud network services into their sales channels, managed services, brokerage platforms and marketplaces.

"My experience -- at both Apple and Packeteer -- has been that the Japanese market is at the forefront of many IT disruption waves -- a unique position that frequently translates into success for companies that enter early and build strong local partnerships," said Craig Elliott, co-founder and CEO at Pertino. "Today, cloud and mobile deployments are disrupting wide-area networking, so I'm looking forward to repeating past successes in Japan here at Pertino with our SoftBank C&S partnership."

"We're excited that the launch of Pertino service will promote the implementation of cloud services by Japanese customers," said Tateyuki Osako, Director of the Information Business Department, Solution Business Division at FujiSoft, a leading provider of cloud computing and integration services in Japan. "Issues such as initial investment, operating cost and implementation time have been challenges for customers newly installing dedicated lines and setting up a VPN environment in order to use cloud services like AWS from multiple sites -- such as retail shops and construction sites -- or on small scale implementations. Our solution uses Pertino's cloud networking service to solve these issues."

Pertino is uniquely positioned among the emerging Software-Defined Networking (SDN) players with more than 15,000 cloud networks built to date, end users in more than 70 countries worldwide, and support for all modern mobile, desktop and server devices as well as cloud instances and Docker containers.

"By combining SDN with network and service virtualization, Pertino provides a compelling platform for delivering new managed network services," said Takayuki Nakagawa, General Manager of the Carrier Marketing & Sales Promotion Division at NEC Network & Systems Integration Corporation (NESIC), which provides a range of cloud computing, network, communications and security solutions backed by system integration and related support services. "As a Pertino partner, we plan to leverage on Pertino to create a range of managed services that will make it easier for our customers to embrace mobile and cloud without giving up network visibility, security and control."

"We welcome the decision by Pertino, an advanced technology member of the AWS Partner Network (APN), to leverage on the value of AWS to provide its cloud networking service in Japan," said Yoshihiro Konno, General Manager, Partner Alliances, at Amazon Data Services Japan K.K. "AWS is excited to support channel partners' use of Pertino's cloud-based VPN service, built on AWS in its Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region, to offer simpler, safer and less costly data migration from on-premises environments to AWS as well as realizing more flexible use of Amazon WorkSpaces."
