Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX:CTY) is pleased to announce that Amtek, a Calian subsidiary, has been awarded a contract renewal valued at $15 million for the Royal Canadian Air Forces' (RCAF) Airworthiness Program, Gatineau, Quebec.

Amtek, along with subcontractor Valcom Consulting Group Inc., will be providing 40+ highly skilled engineers with training and background in aeronautics (63 different categories in four different streams) to support the RCAF in ensuring that all aerospace equipment meets all of the regulatory requirements to effectively and safely operate, also known as airworthiness, in accordance with the Aeronautics Act. The contract starts immediately and will run to March 31, 2017 and includes one additional option year.

This specialized aerospace engineering team will provide support for almost all aspects of the RCAF's aircraft maintenance such as: airworthiness analysts and certification specialists, aircraft structures, regulatory issues, propulsion, flight sciences, electrical and electronic systems, life support equipment, material processes including environmental issues, avionics, E3, Human Factors and human systems integration, system safety, flight test, aircrew operations, cyber security, communications, electronic warfare, weapons and C4ISR. In addition the team will also perform engineering studies in the areas identified above to enhance the capability of the aircraft systems through modifications and enhancements.

" The Amtek/Valcom team was and remains uniquely positioned to augment such a highly qualified and diverse team of aerospace specialists because of our combined long-term relationship with the RCAF's Airworthiness program dating back to 2005" says Lester Sellars, President, Amtek Engineering Services.

"As one of Canada's largest defence companies, Calian is honoured that Amtek has been awarded the contract and is now the primary provider of professional services to support the Airworthiness program. In awarding this contract to Amtek, DND continues to recognize our ability to assemble and manage such a highly specialized team" stated Jerry Johnston, Vice President of Training and Engineering Services, Calian.

"The first pillar of Calian's growth strategy is customer retention. This win demonstrates that Amtek's track record of successful contract delivery and execution are key ingredients in retaining strategic customers such as the RCAF" said Kevin Ford, President and CEO, Calian. "It also reaffirms that the acquisition of Amtek will have a positive impact to our growth objectives" he continued.
