EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - April 1, 2015) - ATCO Gas has been awarded the Safety Leadership Award in Public Safety by the Canadian Gas Association (CGA) for the company's efforts to inform Albertans about the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO).

The CGA Safety Leadership Award in Public Safety recognizes excellence and leadership in fostering public awareness and education about the safe use of natural gas.
ATCO Gas has a long-standing safety awareness campaign informing Albertans about CO prevention and detection. In November 2014, ATCO Gas partnered with the Office of the Fire Commissioner at Alberta Municipal Affairs and fire services in Alberta to launch the province's first CO Awareness Week.
Carbon monoxide is an odourless and colourless gas that can cause serious illness or death. Improperly maintained natural gas appliances can be one of many sources of carbon monoxide.
