Cylance Wins Excellence Award for Best Emerging Technology at 2015 SC Awards

CylancePROTECT Blocks 99 Percent of Threats in Testing Alongside RSA Conference

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 27, 2015) -  Cylance, the first cybersecurity company to provide next-generation antivirus protection that stops malware from executing by analyzing the DNA of files for known and unknown threats, won Best Emerging Technology at the 2015 SC Awards.

CylancePROTECT next-generation antivirus was named Best Emerging Technology in the Excellence Award category at an awards ceremony held on April 21 in San Francisco, alongside the RSA Conference. CylancePROTECT NGAV beat out Cisco Advanced Malware Protection, Palo Alto Networks' Traps Advanced Endpoint Protection, Proofpoint Threat Response and Skyhigh Secure.

"The Excellence Award is given to the company or individual that represents the pinnacle of achievement in IT security," said SC Magazine Vice President Illena Armstrong. "Cylance is truly one of the top performers in the industry and we are honored to present them with this achievement."

Award winners are determined by a panel of IT security experts who review hundreds of entries to identify a limited group of finalists. They pick winners after analyzing data including research reviews, analyst reports and product reviews.

Separately, Cylance experts demonstrated the high efficacy of CylancePROTECT in tests at events held alongside last week's RSA Conference by exposing the product to cyberattacks using live malware downloaded from VirusTotal. They tested the same samples against traditional AV products from McAfee, Symantec and Trend Micro. CylancePROTECT stopped 100 percent of the nearly 400 threats tested, while McAfee blocked 32 percent, Symantec stopped 74 percent and Trend Micro prevented 53 percent from executing. Cylance has conducted similar demonstrations before live audiences in 11 other U.S. cities, including Boston, Cleveland, San Diego and Washington, DC. CylancePROTECT identified and blocked 99 percent of some 2,200 samples tested during that roadshow, dubbed the "Unbelievable Tour." McAfee and Symantec only stopped about half, while Trend Micro blocked about a third.

The roadshow resumes April 28 in Denver, then continues to Austin, Houston, Dallas, Silicon Valley, Seattle and Chicago. To register to attend an "Unbelievable Tour" stop, go to www.cylance.com.
