DEKRA to Conduct ASRP Training Program at TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Race

MONTEREY, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2015) -  DEKRA North America, Inc. will conduct an Advanced Surveillance and Recertification Procedures (ASRP) training program at the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Race at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California on May 1, 2015.

ASRP is an accredited methodology that allows companies registered to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems to reduce the cost, impact, and number of external third party audits performed by their certification body.

The key concept of ASRP is that when an organization can demonstrate a mature management system, the certification body then has the option to design a customized assessment approach that allows greater flexibility in auditing compliance and effectiveness of that management system. The benefits for qualifying organizations include: strengthened internal management system oversight; increased emphasis on management system maturity; and enhancement of performance indicators, management reviews, and corrective and preventive action processes. ASRP can also help companies develop a more effective and self-directed program of continual improvement; improve products and services; and reduce the frequency, cost, and impact of certification body audits.

"ASRP is a very exciting methodology that can not only save companies significant money, but can also strengthen their management system and make it more effective," said Dr. Cem Onus, Managing Director of Business Assurance for DEKRA Certification, Inc.

DEKRA Certification was a central participant in defining and developing ASRP methodology, in part through pilot programs begun in 1996. ASRP was formally introduced in 2005, and DEKRA was the first certification body to earn ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) approval to register client organizations to ASRP.

"As a pioneer in this approach, DEKRA recognized early on the unique needs and goals of organizations pursuing an ASRP approach," said Donald O. Nicholson, CEO and President of DEKRA NA. "By sponsoring training programs like these, we hope to make more eligible organizations aware of the many benefits of the flexible ASRP approach to certification."

DEKRA is the official technical partner for the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), which is the sanctioning body of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship -- which is why the company is hosting its ASRP training at this premier sports car racing event. DEKRA oversees the race car technical inspections at every race and is the sponsor of the DEKRA Green Challenge Award, which is presented to the most environmentally clean, fast and efficient GT Le Mans (GTLM) competitor at each TUDOR Championship race.
