WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - May 28, 2015) - Today EDUCAUSE will open registration for this year's EDUCAUSE Annual Conference to be held October 27-30, 2015, in Indianapolis, Indiana and online. The EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, the largest conference focused on technology in higher education, explores the essential IT issues facing higher education and convenes some of the brightest minds in the community from across the United States and around the world.

The keynote speakers for the general sessions include:

  • Andrew McAfee, Co-Founder MIT Initiative of the Digital Economy, MIT Sloan School of Management and Author

  • Emily Pilloton, Founder and Executive Director, Project H Design and Director of Creativity, REALM Charter School

The EDUCAUSE Annual Conference is structured around key topics in higher education IT with nearly 300 sessions covering topics such as trends and innovation in higher education, digital business, diversity in the profession, and advancing the academic mission. EDUCAUSE will also offer special conference tracks, including individual program elements designed specifically for Chief Information Officer (CIO) participants.

2014 marked a record year for attendance at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference with over 7,000 individuals attending on-site in Orlando, and nearly 2,000 online.

The conference will formally welcome Dr. John O'Brien as the association's new president and CEO. Dr. O'Brien will begin his tenure in June. In recognition of outgoing president and CEO Diana G. Oblinger's extensive contributions and exemplary leadership to the higher education information technology community, EDUCAUSE is establishing the Diana G. Oblinger Innovation Forum. The Forum, dedicated to exploring technology's ever-evolving role in higher education as reflected in emerging trends, innovations, leadership practices, and business models, will be hosted at the 2016 Annual Conference.

Though ending her tenure with EDUCAUSE, Dr. Oblinger will continue her work advancing the field of higher education IT. "I'm honored to be recognized by the association through the Innovation Forum," said Oblinger. "While I will be stepping down as president of EDUCAUSE I will continue to care about and want to contribute to higher education. I intend to continue to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and work for a better future."
