Quotes

"As we approach the 150th anniversary of Confederation, I invite all Canadians to come out and take part in these events that celebrate our pride, our values and our accomplishments. By supporting such events, our Government is honouring its commitment to strengthen our communities and to increase public awareness about our history and heritage."

- The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages

"I am very pleased to see that the federal government is supporting Canada Day celebrations throughout Bruce and Grey. This Canada Day is especially significant, as 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Flag of Canada. I strongly encourage all residents to come out and celebrate our great country at one of the many local Canada Day celebrations this year."

- Larry Miller, Member of Parliament (Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound)

"Owen Sound is a former Cultural Capital of Canada with a longstanding tradition of proudly celebrating our Dominion and Canada Day with great music, theatre, and dance, good food, games and rides for children. The highlight for many is the spectacular fireworks display at the end of the evening. Our celebration takes place beside the bay in our beautiful Kelso Beach Park, welcoming thousands of local residents and visitors. We're very thankful to the Department of Canadian Heritage for its support."

- Ian Boddy, Mayor, City of Owen Sound
