B. Braun Acquires Lauer Membran Wassertechnik GmbH

Aquaboss® Water Treatment System Represents the Latest Advancement in Water Purification Technology

BETHLEHEM, PA--(Marketwired - Jul 1, 2015) - B. Braun Medical Inc., announced today that B. Braun Avitum AG, a major supplier of extracorporeal blood treatment (dialysis) systems, has acquired Lauer Membran Wassertechnik GmbH to round out its extensive portfolio of water treatment systems for dialysis. The Aquaboss® system, which is manufactured by family-owned Lauer, is one of the world's leading premium water treatment systems for dialysis on account of its innovative, patented technology. B. Braun has sold and distributed Lauer water treatment systems in various countries all over the world, including the U.S.

This acquisition marks B. Braun's response to increasing demands for dialysis products and services from a single source. Through this acquisition, B. Braun intends to strengthen its future market position as a system provider for dialysis therapy.

"This latest global acquisition will allow us to expand and grow our business as a full-system supplier of dialysis products and services in the U.S.," said Sam Amory, Vice President, B. Braun Medical. "We are proud to offer the revolutionary Aquaboss in-center water treatment system to our valued customers," added Amory.

Lauer, which is based in Wittlingen, Germany, currently employs 75 people and has 26 years of experience in water treatment. The acquisition will not bring any significant changes for the employees, as Lauer will continue to exist as an autonomous unit within the B. Braun Group.
