TRC Recognized for Sustainability Achievements by the American Public Transportation Association

Receives Bronze Certification for Processes and Actions

LOWELL, MA--(Marketwired - Aug 17, 2015) -  TRC Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRR) today announced it has been recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for its outstanding sustainability achievements. The honor is based on TRC's commitment to the specific criteria of the APTA sustainability commitment program, including implementing processes and actions that continuously improve environmental, social and economic sustainability. TRC received Bronze level recognition during APTA's Sustainability and Public Transportation Workshop on August 3, 2015.

"At TRC, sustainability is a fundamental principle that drives our business," said Chris Vincze, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "While improving the sustainability of our own operations is important, integrating sustainable solutions into the services we provide and the projects we deliver to clients positively impacts their operations and bottom lines and is our unique opportunity to address pressing global issues in a powerful way."

APTA recognizes public transit agencies and businesses for their actions related to several core sustainability principles. TRC's Bronze level recognition is a result of ongoing commitments to: making sustainability a part of the Company's strategic objectives; identification of an internal sustainability champion coupled with human and / or financial resources and mandates; establishing an employee engagement program; and setting sustainability targets and objectives related to energy use, GHG emissions, waste and recycling.

TRC's impact on the sustainability of the transit industry includes providing energy efficiency program design and implementation services. Nationwide, and across industries, these programs have collectively reduced thousands of greenhouse gases. As an example, the annual lifetime emissions savings from one TRC-managed statewide efficiency program equates to approximately: 1.54 million lifetime tons or 269,054 average cars at 12,500 miles; and 1.70 million acres of carbon offset per year from pine trees, or a pine tree forest the size of Delaware.
