Accelerated Innovations Among Partners at White House Event to Kick Off National Smart Cities Initiative

ST. PAUL, MN--(Marketwired - Sep 14, 2015) - Accelerated Innovations LLC (Accelerated Innovations), a technology provider that partners with utilities and municipalities to strengthen communities and eliminate waste, was recognized at the White House today for its key role in Envision America.

The public-private partnership initiative Envision America is issuing a challenge and providing resources to America's cities to deploy innovative technologies and mobilize community actions to tackle energy, water, waste and air challenges. As a key sponsor, Accelerated Innovations is collaborating with smart city leaders to leverage the Envision America web and mobile app, a community engagement platform to facilitate, measure and gamify large-scale sustainability action campaigns.

The Envision America initiative was announced today at a Smart Cities Forum organized by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The forum brought together federal and municipal government officials, business leaders and experts from the research community to discuss how advances in science and technology are helping improve civic vibrancy through innovation and citizen involvement. Opportunities and strategies were highlighted to improve quality of living and foster economic growth through higher quality public services, increased public safety, reduced traffic congestion and more energy efficient homes and buildings.

To develop Envision America, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy looked to Charlotte, North Carolina's experience with Envision Charlotte, a unique public-private partnership focused on sustainability as a catalyst for economic growth. Driven to make Charlotte the most sustainable urban core in America, Envision Charlotte made a commitment to reduce its electricity consumption by 20 percent. Similar goals are tracked across the other pillars of the organization's mission addressing water conservation, solid waste reduction and air quality improvement.

Accelerated Innovations serves as a vital partner in Envision Charlotte's ongoing success.

For over a year, Accelerated Innovations has collaborated with key partners to extend and promote energy efficiency, a foundational pillar of Envision Charlotte. Accelerated Innovations offers a customized web and mobile platform built on the foundation of Accelerated Innovations' MyMeter software application. MyMeter is currently used by more than 30 utilities across the U.S. and abroad, leveraging smart meter infrastructure to provide access to energy use information and tools to realize energy savings.

"We are thrilled to be part of a partnership of this stature and plan to be an engaged partner with all the cities chosen to move forward with the national smart cities initiative," said Josh Headlee, Founder + CEO of Saint Paul, Minnesota-based Accelerated Innovations.

To embark on the challenge of Envision America, Accelerated Innovations will help 10 selected cities develop local initiatives to build large-scale communities of action to achieve goals and ensure a more sustainable future.
