YYC Turkey Challenge
Thursday, Nov. 12 to Sunday, Dec. 20
All across the city!
In its second year in action, the #YYCTurkeyChallenge is back to get Calgarians, media included, dressing as turkeys and donating to the Calgary Food Bank during the holidays -- a time of need for many in our city! With every $20 raised a family will be able to have a holiday season meal.

By accepting the #YYCTurkeyChallenge participants agree to wear a turkey suit for a day. Follow #YYCTurkeyChallenge on Facebook and Twitter to see and circulate photos of notable Calgarians in turkey suits having adventures while encouraging others to donate and get involved!

As part of the CBC Calgary Suncor Food Bank Drive, teams from PWC and Brookfield are building holiday themed creations out of non-perishable food items! All food items used for the event are purchased by the teams and donated to the Calgary Food Bank after the campaign.

The finished designs will become part of the main floor building décor at Suncor Energy Centre for the month of December. Come check out these magnificent holiday creations on the Dec. 2 Build Day or the finished structures for the entire month!

The Huron Carole

The Huron Carole, in support of the Calgary Food Bank, is a multi-media magical journey featuring enchanting songs of Christmas with a shimmering light of faith and plenty of Tomfoolery. Tickets are $225 and not only include a performance, but also a delicious gala-style dinner!

A Cowtown Christmas

Kick off the holiday season by singing with us and your favourite Christmas songs and carols! A Cowtown Christmas presents the Calgary Community Orchestra, the Cowtown Children's Chorus and Soloists from Cowtown Opera, sharing beloved classics and new holiday staples. Don't forget your non-perishable donations, which will be collected at the door for the Calgary Food Bank!

Santa at the Market

Santa Claus is coming to the Market! Bring the whole family down on the first Friday and Saturday of December get your photo taken with the infamous St. Nicholas in exchange for a donation to the Calgary Food Bank! This is a surefire way to get on Santa's nice list this holiday season! But the fun doesn't stop there as a kids' activities and crafts table will be set up for little ones.

18 Wheels of Christmas began in 2002 with the goal of stocking food bank shelves during Christmas time. For four weekends in a row (one in November and three in December), Save-on-Foods and the Calgary Food Bank will partner up to fill 18-wheel trucks with food for food bank clients. To participate, Calgarians can visit the participating Save-on-Foods locations where volunteers will be standing by to collect monetary or food donations!

Every weekend is hosted at a different Save-on-Foods location. At the end of the four weekends, all the food is collected and delivered to the Calgary Food Bank.

Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss

Let the fur fly! Tickets are already available to the 21st annual Calgary Hitmen Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss. Not only will fans see fantastic hockey between Calgary Hitmen's and the Swift Current Broncos, but they won't miss seeing this world-famous event that has over 20,000 teddy bears hit the ice in support of 60 local charities -- including the Calgary Food Bank! Ticket holders are encouraged to bring stuffed animals to throw onto the ice to join in on the fun.

After the event, the bears that come to the food bank will included in our emergency food hampers or be distributed to partner agencies over the holidays!

Amble with Angus
Friday, Dec. 11

Eau Claire Market - 200 Barclay Parade SW
For the 14th year in a row, Amble with Angus 5K run is open to runners of all abilities in support of the Calgary Food Bank's Children's Milk Program. Runners sign up, collect donations and sponsorships, then run of the 5K from Eau Claire around the Bow River pathways. Registration is only $20 per person and each dollar is a direct donation to the Food Bank. A few kilometres and a few dollars go a long way!

Since their conception, Angus runs have raised $300,000 for the Calgary Food Bank. Let's make 2015 the best year ever!

CP Holiday Train

The spectacular Holiday Train, with its array of festive lights, makes its annual stop in Calgary on Dec. 11! Bring your family and enjoy a live show featuring Kelly Prescott, Devin Cuddy and Jim Cuddy. The concerts are free to the public but donations, whether food or funds, to the Calgary Food Bank are encouraged! Help your neighbours this holiday season while enjoying this fun-filled, family-friendly and free holiday event!

Come early to get a good spot and check out the other entertainment prior to the concert including the Edo elves and Take It and Go food truck. Word on the street is Santa is may be coming to town!

Heebee Jeebees Christmas Concert

Have yourself a Heebee Jeebees Christmas this year! Calgary's favourite comic a cappella group is sure to fill you with cheer this season. While you're feeling that cheer, help your community, too! Non-perishable donations will be collected at the door for the Calgary Food Bank.

Holiday Gift Wrapping
Tuesday, Dec. 15 to Thursday, Dec. 17

It's hard enough finding the time to shop for gifts, let alone getting them wrapped in time for the holidays! But not to worry, we're here to help! Bring your gifts and a donation to the wrapping centre at Suncor Energy Centre (main floor, west tower) and we'll return a package you'll be proud to put under the tree. Suggested donation of $3 for a small package, $5 for a medium package and $7 for a large package.

Special thanks to Brookfield Office Properties for donating the supplies, which allows all proceeds to benefit the Calgary Food Bank!

Blitz Day!

It's an "Eyeopener" for those who are not familiar with Blitz Day. The push is on as we head towards the "Homestretch" of the CBC Calgary Suncor Food Drive campaign.

CBC Calgary radio programs (The Eyeopener and Homestretch) will broadcast LIVE from the lobby of the CBC Calgary Broadcast Centre as we aim to reach, and hopefully surpass, our goal -- raising $1 million in food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank. Angela Knight from the CBC Eyeopener will be selling Fratello coffee and limited edition CBC mugs first thing in the morning to raise extra funds. Join us in this whirlwind day of helping our neighbours!
