The 2016 Aces of Finance Competition: Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada Launches Call for Candidacies!


MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 26, 2015) - The Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada, an all-industry professional association for senior financial executives, is delighted to announce the launch of the Aces of Finance competition, now in its sixth year. This prestigious competition aims to recognize the professional achievements and community involvement of outstanding Quebec financial executives. Members and non-members of the association are invited to participate and submit their nomination forms in one of the following three categories: Financial executive of a large corporation, Financial executive of a small or medium-sized enterprise and Emerging financial executive. The Aces of Finance competition highlights the exceptional professional achievements of financial executives, shining a spotlight on the key role they play in organizations while inspiring others in their profession.

Dates to remember

Candidates have until February 8, 2016 to submit their nomination form. The finalists will be announced on March 30, 2016, and the winners will be revealed at a gala event to be held on May 11, 2016 in Montreal. As in past years, an independent jury has been selected comprising five high-profile professionals who have distinguished themselves throughout their careers and possess many years of experience in the financial and business community.

The honorary chairman of this year's competition will be Mr. Christian Dubé, FCPA, FCA, Executive Vice-President, Quebec, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. Prior to arriving at the Caisse in 2014, Mr. Dubé held several key positions in the private sector in large management firms. He then held different executive roles in finance and operations at Domtar and Cascades in Canada as well as in Europe, before having a brief run in provincial politics in 2012.

"Working often in the background, financial executives are the driver of success for organizations and this is what the competition aims to highlight."

2016 Homage Award

The Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada will also be presenting its Aces of Finance Homage Award to a financial executive who has demonstrated excellence throughout his or her career. The 2016 recipient of this prestigious award is Mr. L. G. Serge Gadbois, FCPA, FCA, MBA, Corporate Director. Mr. Gadbois' career spans four decades, and he has provided his expertise to many well-known companies. He retired in 2006 after working for over 20 years for the food retail company Metro Inc. Since then he has served on many boards of directors or audit committees for various companies, including Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc., Cogeco Cable Inc., Groupe St-Hubert Inc., Supremex Inc. and Mecachrome Inc.

With much admiration, the Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada is pleased to pay tribute to Mr. Gadbois through the Aces of Finance competition. The recipient of the Homage Award was announced at the Financial Executive Forum held on November 25, before more than 130 members and guests. Mr. Gadbois will be officially honoured at the gala evening on May 11, 2016.

The winner of the Homage Award is named by the Board of Directors of the Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada and the members of the competition's organizing committee, which is made up of:
