The Government of Canada Supports a Community Project in Lac-Drolet

LAC-DROLET, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 23, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Key players in the communities have long been asking for concrete, lasting improvements to the community and recreational infrastructures. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects that, like this one by Loisirs Lac-Drolet Inc., contribute to the vitality of the regions throughout the country and make them more dynamic.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announces the awarding of $19,500 in financial assistance to the non-profit organization Loisirs Lac-Drolet for turning the municipal skating rink into a multi-purpose, all-season sports field for skating, playing hockey, dekhockey and basketball.

Established in 1966, the organization provides the 1,000 residents of Lac-Drolet with celebrations, a summer events program and a host of sports and community activities. The non-repayable contribution awarded under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) will enable the organization to undertake the following renovations: purchase, install and mark out the synthetic surface and purchase and put up basketball baskets.

CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
