2nd Annual Alberta Birthday Celebration Extravaganza, Celebrating Alberta's 111th Birthday


CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Aug. 25, 2016) - The Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society, the society behind the resortation of the Historic Bow Valley Ranche House, former home to William Roper Hull and Senator Patrick Burns shall be hosting Alberta's largest free Birthday Party on Thursday September 1st, 2016 between 5:00 and 8:00.

Highlights of the event include; A parade down Ranche Promenade led by the Kings Own Calgary Regiment Marching Band featuring the RCMP, RCMP Vets, Calgary Police Services, horse mounted police officers. The Re-enactment of the 1905 Inauguration Ceremony featuring Alberta teachers and prominent Alberta Historians including Harry Sanders and Brian Brennan, dressed in classic black tails reciting in large part the exact lines that were spoken in the 1905 Inauguration by Governor General Earl Grey, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, 7th Prime Minister of Canada among others.

The Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, Her Honour Lois Mitchell, shall be presenting the 2016 Alberta Youth History Award and 2016 Lt. Colonel Frederick Harvey Award to two deserving Alberta students that were involved with Canada's History national Heritage Fair program in 2016 .

The unveiling of the unoffical Alberta Birthday Flag for the first time,which shall be voted on in the Alberta Legislature some day to hopefully become Alberta's offical Alberta Birthday Flag, Canada's very first offical provincial birthday flag. Birthday flag designs were submitted by students in 28 towns and cities across Alberta.

Great entertainment shall also be provided by Al Muirhead, Juno Nominated trumpet player and The History Wrangler & The Dusty Saddle Gang and there will be free cake baked by Great Events Catering. Additonally, Village Brewery's Village Rancher, Alberta Birthday Ale shall be available for sale.

The event will also celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Historic Bow Valley Ranche House which was built in 1896.
