Geoscience BC Announces New Members to Board of Directors


VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - September 19, 2016) - Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Kuehl, John Milne, and Alan Winter to its Board of Directors effective September 15th, 2016.

Jared Kuehl is Deputy Head, Government Relations with Shell Canada, based in Vancouver. Previously, Jared held roles in the public and private sector related to public affairs and policy development. He holds a Master of Arts in political science from McGill University. Jared has been an active volunteer with arts, health, development and community charities and causes. He is also a part of the alumni network of the BMW Foundation's Trans-Atlantic Forum.

John Milne is a CPA, CA and an audit partner at KPMG LLP. John is a member of KPMG's Energy and Natural Resources practice providing audit and audit-related services to a variety of clients, comprising mainly companies in the mining industry, junior oil and gas companies, and large forestry clients. He has extensive experience with public companies operating in the resource sector and has worked at various client operations throughout BC as well as internationally. Since 2011, John has also acted as a mentor to UBC Sauder School of Business MBA students.

Alan Winter has wide experience at senior levels in the technology sector and in government, including such roles as the President and CEO of Genome BC for the past 15 years, the founding President and CEO of the New Media Innovation Centre in Vancouver, the President of the ComDev Space Group in Ontario, and the President and CEO of MPR Teltech Ltd. in Vancouver. On the federal side, he was Chair of the Communications Research Centre, Deputy Chair of the Council of Science and Technology Advisors (CSTA), and a member of the Expert Panel on Research Performance and Science Funding, Council of Canadian Academies.

Leaving the Board at this time are: John Thompson, PetraScience Consultants Inc. and David Molinski, Chevron Canada. As well, Susannah Pierce of LNG Canada left the Board in February, and James Gray of De Visser Gray LLP is stepping down as Treasurer. Geoscience BC extends its gratitude for their dedicated volunteer service to the organization over the years.
