HAM-SUD, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 17, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to support projects such as this one by Développement du Mont Ham, which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament for Brome-Missisquoi, attended the inauguration of the Parc régional du Mont-Ham visitor centre and took the opportunity to announce that community organization Développement du Mont Ham is being granted $40,000 in financial support, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, for the construction of a new multi-use trail that will delight cyclists and cross-country skiers alike.

The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will enable the organization to clear and grade the trail, which exceeds 12 kilometres and which outdoor enthusiasts will be able to use to go around Mont-Ham. The work also includes the installation of signage, bridges and culverts.

On June 4, 2015, the Les Sources RCM was granted $280,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, for the development and construction of the Parc régional du Mont-Ham visitor centre, which is being inaugurated today.

For over 25 years, Développement du Mont Ham has been managing Mont-Ham, a 15-square-kilometre natural site whose main attraction is the climb up Mont-Ham, 713 metres in elevation, with its 360-degree panoramic view.
