Cross-Canada Official Languages Consultations 2016

Consultations move on to Iqaluit

IQALUIT, NUNAVUT--(Marketwired - Oct. 18, 2016) - Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today led round table discussions in Iqaluit, Nunavut, as part of the cross-Canada public consultations on official languages.

These consultations will provide Minister Joly with food for thought on key issues and priority measures to adopt in developing a new multi-year official-languages action plan.

The Minister invites all Canadians to take part in these consultations and to share their opinions or comments on the role of English and French in Canadian society.

Quotes

"Visiting Iqaluit is a unique Canadian experience. Holding consultations here will provide more opportunities for residents of Nunavut to engage in the discussion, while highlighting their contribution to Canada's linguistic diversity and their connection to our two official languages."

- The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage
