USFCR Client Blueraven Creative Lands $25k Contract

LAKE BARRINGTON, IL--(Marketwired - October 24, 2016) - US Federal Contractor Registration client Blueraven Creative, LLC received in August a $24,771 contract from the Bureau of Land Management to develop three interpretive panel designs for 12 panels that will be displayed around local businesses for an Escalante Grand Staircase in Utah.

The contract calls for the graphic design company to design, illustrate, develop tactile elements, case, manufacture, and create artifact replicas of the panels prior to installation.

For Blueraven's president Tricia Peterson, this contract award came at a time when she was no longer certain that government contracting was for her. Only after working closely with US Federal Contractor Registration – specifically acquisition specialists Jason Cribbs and John Wayne (who is also the company's director of federal bid training), did Peterson decide to bid on opportunities she knew she and her company could handle.

"Jason Cribbs and John Wayne helped me organize my proposal and include the correct documentation in it," said Peterson. "I wouldn't have thought this was possible, had I not worked with USFCR."

Of course, Peterson and Blueraven deserve much of the credit as well, with the BLM's contracting officer telling her that the agency liked her work and decide to give her a try.

"Plus I had the correct documentation included in my proposal, and I'm sure my cost proposal and technical proposal and expediency played a part," said Peterson.

Wayne, who has been with USFCR for six years, believes that Peterson, like most owners of small businesses, can succeed as a government contractor as long as she aggressively bids on opportunities and delivers high-quality products.

"Most contractors miss out on opportunities because they don't include all of the information a solicitation calls for, or because of how they price the product or service," said Wayne. "What Tricia learned via our bid training is how to best position herself for success – which is exactly what she found on her first try."

Peterson separately agreed.

"I attended the training sessions and was proactive with my questions, and John was there to help and answer questions related to the contract on which I was interested in bidding," said Peterson. "[Submitting a bid was] scary at first, but now that I've landed my first contract, I feel like I am able to confidently bid and compete on other small interpretive design projects."

US Federal Contractor Registration helps clients complete the SAM Registration, develop winning bid strategies, and succeed as government contractors. In 2015, USFCR clients earned nearly $2 billion in government contracts.

Eric Knellinger, president of US Federal Contractor Registration, the world's largest third-party government registration firm, said that Blueraven Creative, now that it has landed its first contract, will be able to leverage this success into future opportunities.

"Many contracting officers, before issuing an award, like to see that a company has successfully completed a government contract, which makes it a chicken-and-egg situation," said Knellinger. "All it takes is one contracting officer willing to take a chance on you – which is what happened with Tricia and her company – and you'll find that the door to contracting will swing wide open to you."
