Bombardier Transportation Repositions its Business in Germany - Michael Fohrer New Head of Germany


BERLIN, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Dec. 9, 2016) - Bombardier Transportation is undergoing a strategic realignment to strengthen its position as a leading manufacturer of railway technology. In view of the challenging market environment, the company is putting a strong focus on product standardization and site specialization in order to become more efficient and effective.

In the course of this transformation process, today the Supervisory Board of Bombardier Transportation GmbH appointed Michael Fohrer (53) as the new Chairman of the Management Board. Fohrer shall assume this position alongside his role as President of the Locomotives and Light Rail Vehicles units. He succeeds Germar Wacker who is stepping down from his role as Chairman of the Management Board and will remain with the company in an advisory role.

In addition, Konrad Wiebalck (53) has been appointed as a new member of the German Management Board in today's meeting of the Supervisory Board. He shall assume the role of Labour Director as successor to Dr. Susanne Kortendick. She is leaving the company to embark on a new career path after nine years with the company.
